about InnerG Waistbeads

After a trip to Ghana, Andera (owner & operator of The InnerG Brand LLC) wanted to bridge the gap between tradition and trend as well as give back to African creators.

In West Africa, the tradition of wearing waist beads was made popular by the Yoruba tribe of Nigeria. Waist beads are worn as a celebration of womanhood, sexuality, femininity, fertility, healing, spirituality, body shaping, protection and wealth. Waist beads can be considered as “African Lingerie.”

Some African women wear beads around their waists to watch their weight.

Both traditionally and in modern times, women will wear waist beads to get/keep their bodies intact. It is said that the beads shape your body and keep the waist small and hips accentuated. It was (and still is) used as a measurement tool. Our waist beads do not stretch, so if/when the waist beads start to feel a little tight, it’s a sign that there was some weight gain while they loosen or fall as weight loss occurs.

In the 21st century, African people continue to use and wear beads for cultural pride, status, and adornments.

InnerG Waistbeads are:
-handmade with love in Ghana.
-packaged with intention in Texas.
-helping stimulate the economy in West Africa.

We are now an online store ready to provide you with beautiful waist beads for every body's journey.

Allow us to be the intention behind your journey, whether you're tracking your weight loss or stimulating your sensuality, we hope to awaken your innerG.
